We are a group of military historians who have come together to represent one of the most combat effective, yet least known battalions of the CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force). While we only wear the uniform of the one battalion that served in France and Flanders, we do aim to honour and remember all the men of the Nova Scotia Highland Brigade, disbanded in 1916, and all the men who served for King and Empire in His Majesty's commonwealth.
The unit is currently based out of Chicago, Illinois, as that is where the largest base of members are. We also have members from Wisconsin and from Halifax, Nova Scotia, the home of the original battalion. Our primary event is held in Rockford, Illinois every April.
If you are interested in joining the 85th Battalion, reenacted, or want more information on the battalion and its role in the Great War, please feel free to contact us via email.
